1947 - 1995

Trevor Key was born in Hull Yorkshire in 1947.

In 1966 he moved to London and initially worked for a photographic processing company. His career really kicked off in 1968 when he was sharing a tiny flat in Notting Hill with friends from Hull and he became the photographer's assistant to Don McAllester. From then on until his untimely death in 1995 Trevor was constantly involved with the latest developments in visual media. 

As well as working on his solo projects he also collaborated with a number of other photographers and designers throughout his career. During the 1970s Cooke Key Associates, his partnership with photographer Brian Cooke, was essentially Virgin Records design department and in the 1980s and early 90s he collaborated with designer Peter Saville on many productions for Factory Records. But these two collaborations only form a fraction of his creative output.

At the time of his death he had his own studio and a talented photographer's assistant of his own in the person of Toby Mcfarlan Pond.
